My Bday celebration ~ Bday gift (Sonnies)

Hand, foot and mouth disease-HFMD

I have no idea at all about the seriousness of this disease and im not sure where my younger son, Mika, picked up this virus. He started on 19/04/08 with some rashes and vesicles on his upper back thigh and buttock that i thot is nappy rash (he get it on and off, thanks to my nanny) and 2 ulcers on his tongue. I already suspected after hubby told me bout the ulcer but he seems normal except cry whenever he eat. No fever, no crankies, no discomfort. I did ask hubby should we cancel our trip (we planned a trip to PD (Port Dickson) on the next day.) but hubby said we can bring him to see doc should he developed fever there. So, the plan go on lor.

Somehow, Mika got realy cranked up the next day afternoon while we on the way. He refuse to eat and drink little water. That was day time and bed time was a nightmare, my nightmare!!

The whole nite, he keeps on waking up crying non stop, wants to suck his teat teat but it hurts his mouth more for doing so, plus he drools non stop and ends up me whole night didnt sleep.

This is just beginning of story leh, after back to KL, Daniel got infected. His case is more severe as he is prone to the mouth ulcer like his father (good genes :P) and the blister in his mouth seems more larger than Mika's. He refuse everything in total. He acted like 'kungfu fighting' during his sleeps and talks alien language!! (I couldnt understand!!)and drools non stop too!! It had been total 9days of disasters. Luckily, I fed them with E.Excel products which is why both them didnt developed fever i believed! *Phew* but my wallet very 'slim' liao!! Miao tiao!!

Here, i want share some info on this HFMD from experience i learned from my kids:

1) HFDM caused by coxsackie virus, which is why some ppl called it coxsackie disease. It usually attack kids compare to adults.

2) Ulcers/blisters in mouth and tongue. Rashes/vesicles developed on NOT JUST palms and soles, but thigh (front or back), buttocks and arms. Some of it might looks like chickenpox but does not itch.

Mouth/tongue ulcers.

Rashes and red spot on sole

3) Decreased of appetite for solid foods. May developed sore throat and fever.

4) Most probably will drools non stops, so prepared your nappy! (No, hankie wont help much) Just wrap around their neck like bibs. (Mika wet 6-7nappies per day)

5) Wash hand frequently (both adults and kids)to minimise and avoid virus spreads . Plus Dont bring your kids to kindies/school/childcare as this virus is consider highly contagious!!

Let's hope my kids will recover within these 2days. Daniel keeps complaining he misses his school friends and teacher. I missed the session where we chat and he recites rhyme and songs he learned at school during our bed time.

GET WELL SOON, SONNIES!!

MOMMY AND DADDY LOVE YOU BOTH VERY MUCH!!
